The McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for one (1) opening in the Administrative Division for Warrant/Records Specialist.  The Warrant/ Records Specialist prepare and process warrants, protection orders, domestic violence orders, restraining orders, summons, and complaints. They conduct records search for Law Enforcement agencies, Law firms, Military checks, Insurance Agencies. This class reports to the Civil Sergeant. The schedule is Monday - Friday 8:00AM to 4:30PM. Level and salary commensurate with experience.

Pay Classification B22 (Starting at $25.78/hour depending on applicant experience)
Typical Schedule: 8 hr shift Monday through Friday
Works Under: Civil Sergeant

Letter of Interest 
in standard resume format. A minimum of one (1) page is required. Do not exceed three (3) pages. Font: Calibri. Font Size: 11. Spacing: 1 to 1.15 spacing is acceptable.

One (1) or more letters of recommendation.


Process:
Following the submission deadline, an oral interview will be scheduled.  The oral interview will include topics of providing an oral resume, motivation, career intentions and problem solving. 
 
The letter of recommendation is included in the application requirements and will be reviewed to assist in selection. Additionally, the applicant’s recent performance history (12 months) will be reviewed and may disqualify an applicant if the performance does not meet the needs of the position.
 
The position will be awarded according to oral interview, submitted documents, performance history, and at the discretion of the Sheriff.
 
Essential Job Functions
  • Perform record searches, compile statistics, conduct public and internal records requests, and prepare correspondence using P1 and Zuercher systems
  • Redacting records in accordance with policies, state and federal law
  • Coordinate transport for inmates with Civil Sergeant or Patrol Shift Supervisor
  • Serves as administrative support for the Sheriff’s Office
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature, level or as assigned
Knowledge of:
  • Ability to decide time, place and sequence of major plans or operations.
  • Ability to analyze and categorize data and information using established criteria to define consequences and the ability to consider and select alternatives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to perform public speaking if needed.
  • Ability to use consulting and design data and information, and to evaluate objectively and make timely decisions.
  • Knowledge of state statutes and department and county policy and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic math and ability to interpret statistical reports.
  • Working knowledge of human behavior and various social, economic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Willingness and desire to learn new and challenging tasks.
 
Skills:
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction.
  • Applying Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations;
  • Preparing operational records and reports;
  • Using a computer and related software applications
 
Minimum Qualification:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • One (1) year of Administrative Support/ Customer Service is preferred
  • Eligible for NCIC and CJIS Certification
  • Communicating tactfully and courteously with others
  • Physical requirements and working conditions:
    • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
    • Moderate Work: Exerting up to 15 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
