Through a partnership with the North Dakota Sheriff's and Deputies Association and funded by the North Dakota Department of Human Services, the McKenzie County Sheriff's Office has continued participating in the tip411 service to allow citizens to submit anonymous tips.
When you submit a tip through any of the options listed below, it is sent to a third party tip service, which acts as a privacy buffer between you and our agency in order to protect your identify and your contact information.
This service is being provided to the public for non-emergency use. Tips may not be responded to immediately and it is not monitored 24/7. It is not meant to be used as a substitute for calling 911 in emergency situations. In the event of an emergency, you should always dial 911.
Option 1: Text Message
To send an anonymous tip via text message, open a text message and enter 847411 in the 'To' field. In the body of the text, enter MCSOTIP, type a space and then add your tip. Provide any relevant information in your tip as to what crime occurred or where, then send your text message.
Option 2: Mobile App
Download the NDTip app from the
Apple App Store or
Google Play Store. Once installed, open the app and select "Submit a Tip." Choose the law enforcement agency which corresponds to the location of the crime. Provide any relevant information in your tip as to what crime occurred or where, you can also include an image by selecting the camera icon. Once your information has been entered, select the "Send This Tip" button. You should receive confirmation that your tip was sent and a deputy may respond for more information.
Option 3: Web-Based Tip (complete this form)
Provide any relevant information in your tip as to what crime occurred or where. Please be very specific with details as law enforcement will not be able to contact you when using this reporting method unless you submit your contact information.
